Enigmatic Baboon Youtube Video Series
In 2013 and 2014, I made a series of Youtube videos about movies, comic books, science fiction, and drawing.
Episode 9: Doctor Who "Dark Water" and "Death in Heaven"
In this episode of the Enigmatic Baboon I review the two-part finale of Doctor Who series 8 "Dark Water" and "Death in Heaven". The intriguing "Dark Water" featuring the big reveal about Missy, Danny's sad fate and Clara's conflict with the Doctor.
The emotional and beautiful with "Death in Heaven" the crazy plan of an old enemy, many returns and the Doctor taking charge more than he would like.
Episode 8: Drawing Like Rob Liefeld
Rob Liefeld is one of the most controversial yet successful comic book artists. Many pundits say that he does not deserve his success because supposedly he cannot draw. I quite like Rob Liefeld's artwork.
In this episode of the Enigmatic Baboon I make the attempt to draw like Rob Liefeld. Let's see how it goes!
Music by Uncle Bibby: "A Simple Complex" and "Happi"
Episode 7: HobbitCon 2014
The HobbitCon 2014 in April in the German city of Bonn was an amazing get-together of fans, experts, celebrities and artists to celebrate the works of J.R.R. Tolkien.
In this episode of "The Enigmatic Baboon" I visit the HobbitCon and experiences fun, friendship, fandom and fantasy. See the amazing workshops about masks and prosthetics, drawing elves, stunt fighting, building armor and film make-up. See writer and director Tommy Krappweis spill the beans on his new fantasy movie "Mara und der Feuerbringer" and how the special effects for the dragon (Lindwurm) were made. See the actors playing the dwarves in "The Hobbit" tell intimate stories about embarrassments in the past. And see how the participants of the costume competition got the whole auditorium to join in singing "Misty Mountain Cold" while waiting for an indecisive jury to choose the best costume.

Episode 6: Boat Exhibition in Düsseldorf 2014 (Boot Messe)
In Episode 6 of the Enigmatic Baboon we take a look at the "Boot 2014", the Boat Exhibition in Düsseldorf. Marvel at boats more expensive than houses! Baffle at kite-surfers in door! And be stunned by divers colliding like drunken meteorites See Europe's largest boat and ship exhibition in all its glory.
This time the "Enigmatic Baboon" is firmly set in reality! No fantasy or science-fiction in this special episode from Düsseldorf in the strange land of Germany.
Episode 5: Battle of the Doctor Who Christmas Specials
Doctor Who celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2013. Some of the best episodes are the feature length specials shown on Christmas Eve. Usually they are stand alone stories with a higher budget, better special effects and celebrity cast.
In this special episode of "Engigmatic Baboon" I review and ranks the Doctor Who Christmas Specials from the Matt Smith era. What is the best special? "A Christmas Carol", "The Snowmen" or "The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe".
Episode 4: InterComic 2013
The Intercomic 2013 is a small but interesting comic convention in Cologne, Germany. On November 2nd, 2013 I went there to meet comic book artists, read comic books and be surprised by the diligence of some makers. Illustrator Diana Kennedy had written, drawn and produced her own animated feature. Comic book artist Andreas Eikenroth continued drawing his comic book among the commotion. All this and more: Toys, books, original art, posters and comics!
Episode 3: Drawing A Dragon
In this episode we take a look at drawing a fire breathing dragon using pencil, pen and computer coloring with Pixelmator on a Mac.
I first sketch out the dragon on paper and then ink it. After scanning it, I clean the image up in Pixelmator and then color it digitally.
Episode 2: RingCon 2013
I went to the fantasy convention RingCon 2013 in Bonn, Germany, on October 19. There I got to see some strange cosplayers dressed as characters from "Lord of the Rings" and "Game of Thrones" even as well as "Wolverine". I attended sessions with Marc Ferguson, David Wenham and Craig Parker from "Lord of the Rings" and saw Silas Weir Mitchell my favorite actor from "Grimm".
Find out who dressed up as what and what spontaneous outbursts of creativity happened in the hallway of Hotel Maritim.
Episode 1: The Fantastic Mr. Byrne (Fantastic Four Review)
In the very first episode of "Enigmatic Baboon" I rediscover the comic book artist John Byrne and take a look at "Fantastic Four" No. 232. This is the first issue of Byrne's epic run on the series that went on for more than 60 issues.
The story is called "Back to Basics" because Byrne takes the Fantastic Four back to their original qualities and characterization as defined by their creators Jack Kirby and Stan Lee.
